About this program
It is a special feature of teaching at the Karlsruhe Academy of Fine Arts that students training to be teachers receive their artistic training together with prospective freelance artists in the class and are not taught separately. This also emphasizes the importance attached to studio work during the course of study. This weighting begins in the Bachelor's program. Students have one year to find their way into artistic studies without the burden of a second subject. The generous timeframe of a four-year standard period of study offers very good conditions for independent artistic study with clear structures, which is accompanied by career-oriented courses in educational sciences, subject didactics, art history, and art and theory. A first school internship is also planned.
