About this program

The primary qualifying study program in Bachelor of Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy (PQS) offers the teaching of all professionally practical-therapeutic content within the framework of a university degree. This form of study trains in two specializations: Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy. The degree can only be obtained in one of the two specializations. This means you set a focus at the beginning of your studies. The primary qualifying study form offers scientifically based and practice-oriented teaching that qualifies for the practice of the professions in the fields of physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Successful completion of the studies leads to both the professional qualification as a physiotherapist/occupational therapist and the academic degree Bachelor of Science, which opens access to further academic qualifications. The study program enables you to work scientifically soundly, multiprofessionally, team-oriented, and reflectively with patients and clients. The necessary competencies for a position in the fields of science, management, and consulting, as well as public relations in the healthcare sector, are acquired. Furthermore, you will be enabled to engage in professional politics and contribute to the scientific foundation of your profession. The study program is characterized by small seminar groups, interdisciplinary teaching in cross-disciplinary modules, and profession-specific competencies in the fields of occupational therapy and physiotherapy (specialization and degree only possible in one therapy profession). Semester-wise changing schedules and practical study phases require a high degree of independent work (self-study, self-organization, flexibility, self-discipline). The program involves various study locations (ASH Berlin, Wannseeschulen, and healthcare facilities). The program is part of Germany's largest state SAGE university (Social Work, Health, and Education) with an international network of research cooperations and partner universities. Transparency for other universities in Germany and abroad, as well as facilitated student mobility, is ensured by ASH's international orientation and the evaluation of study achievements according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The program is a full-time study with mandatory attendance. The four practical study phases, each lasting 10 weeks, are integrated into the study program and take place predominantly during the lecture-free period. The primary qualifying study form trains in two specializations: Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy. The degree can only be obtained in one of the two specializations. The interdisciplinary orientation leads to a better understanding of the other professional group. Learning about different models and perspectives on the people being treated expands one's own scope of action. PQS aims for an expanded professional practice: working scientifically soundly, multiprofessionally, team-oriented, and reflectively with patients and clients; being employed in hospitals, geriatric facilities, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation facilities, and outpatient practices, or working independently; taking on new tasks and roles in healthcare, prevention, and health promotion; acquiring the necessary competencies for a position in the fields of science, management, and consulting, as well as public relations in the healthcare sector. Graduates of PQS are enabled to engage in professional politics and contribute to the scientific foundation of their profession. A Bachelor's degree creates the prerequisite for a Master's degree, where existing knowledge and skills can be deepened and contributions made to the scientific foundation of health professions. In the 6th semester, the state examination according to the training and examination regulations for occupational therapists or physiotherapists is taken. Successful completion grants the professional license. In the 7th semester, students demonstrate their acq
