About this program

The BA in Artistic Practice and Society program aims to provide students with tools and a compass to develop their own answers to questions about the role of art in 21st-century societies, how art is political, and how art can contribute to the production of embodied, experimental, and holistic forms of knowledge. The program offers foundational and advanced courses in various artistic fields including painting, drawing, sculpture, video, film, creative writing, performance, and theater, while also addressing other practices like dance, sound, ceramics, and architecture. It integrates a core curriculum addressing significant texts and artifacts from global cultural legacies, German language study, and electives in philosophy, art history, literature, and social theory. Graduates are prepared for work in art production, the art world, and cultural and political organizations.
