About this program

The program combines artistic, curatorial, and architectural decisions, focusing on the conception and design of contemporary art exhibitions, as well as archive and thematic exhibitions. It offers theoretical engagement alongside practical development of exhibition spaces and architectures, with an intensive dialogue with curatorial practice. Scenography is understood as the practice of staging space, positioning itself between traditional stage design and directing. Scenographers work in theater, film, virtual spaces, or create narrative spaces as freelance artists through installations, temporary architectures, choreographies, and performances. The project-oriented study examines classical and modern theater dispositifs, with a central theme being the negotiation of the relationship between space, content, viewer, and time. The professorship for curatorial studies and dramaturgical practice serves as a link and completion of these sub-areas in theoretical and practical questions, encompassing exhibition theory, exhibition history, theater theory, theater history, as well as curatorial and dramaturgical practice.
