About this program

The main task of architects is the planning, design, and execution of buildings. The architecture program at TU Darmstadt focuses on creative design, complemented by constructive, artistic, and historical-scientific areas. Systematic knowledge transfer and creative-playful elements are intertwined. High-rise and urban development are understood as a unit. The program covers historical foundations, design and representation, construction, building technology, building planning, and urban planning. Each semester centers around a core design project, with other courses directly or indirectly related to it. These projects are alternately led by the departments of spatial design, structural design, building science, and urban planning.
