About this program

The Master's program in Applied Psychology provides aspiring psychologists with a professional, methodological, and practical education that ideally prepares them for a wide range of activities in the organizational and educational sectors, as well as for further academic qualification. The program innovatively combines the psychological application fields of Educational Psychology and Work and Organizational Psychology. Students acquire current knowledge from the fields of Educational and Developmental Psychology, Social, Work, and Organizational Psychology. They gain knowledge of advanced methodological and psychometric foundations of psychological diagnostics. They deepen their knowledge of the theory, construction, and application of psychological tests, as well as recent developments in test theory and test construction. They acquire important competencies through the independent planning and execution of practice-oriented projects or projects on questions from current research, and through the evaluation, presentation, and discussion of project results. They deepen and expand their professional and interdisciplinary competencies as well as their methodological knowledge, including through the planning and execution of computer-aided data collection, data analysis, survey planning, and the assessment of evaluation questions. The program aims to demonstrate the value of theories, scientific findings, and research methods for the professional design of practice and to make it experienceable in the implementation of their own study projects. The program lays the foundation for evidence-based psychological action in various professional fields such as school psychology, counseling centers, university didactics, personnel selection, or vocational training and further education.
