About this program

The Bachelor's program Advanced Nursing Practice at the Faculty of Health Sciences at MSH expands students' existing nursing practice and develops new competencies in education and research. To promote and prepare for later work in inter- and transdisciplinary teams, students take modules partly together with fellow students from the Bachelor's programs Medical Controlling and Management (B.Sc.) and Rescue Management (B.Sc.). This gives them insight into the work and tasks of the respective professional groups, thus strengthening teamwork and experience in interdisciplinary collaboration. The part-time model on block weekends gives students the opportunity to balance professional activity and/or family with their studies. The Bachelor's program Advanced Nursing Practice, focused on advanced nursing practice, offers qualified nurses the opportunity for professional development. Practice and science orientation, interdisciplinarity, and ethical decision-making form the basis of the program with the elective specializations in intensive care medicine and intensive care, anesthesiology and anesthesia nursing, or emergency medicine and emergency management. In terms of content, the program is divided into four competence fields with a total of 19 modules. In the competence field of basic professional skills, you will learn and deepen medical and scientific fundamentals and become acquainted with nursing concepts in the context of social sciences, humanities, and law. In the competence field of interdisciplinary skills, you will deal with ethics in health and medicine and acquire competencies in interdisciplinary teamwork in healthcare. Furthermore, in the competence field of advanced professional skills, you will learn concepts and theories of nursing and health sciences as well as case and disease management and gain further knowledge in the areas of oncology, palliative medicine, and pain therapy, as well as anesthesiology, intensive care, and emergency medicine. You will apply what you have learned directly in practice during an internship. The program is rounded off by the acquisition of extensive scientific and personal competencies, which prepare you for writing your own bachelor's thesis and train you in the areas of quality assurance and management, project and process management, economics, and business administration.
