The Industrial Design program at ABK Stuttgart has an excellent reputation throughout Europe, stemming from the quality of its current teaching practices, its location, and its national and international network. The history of the program with its prominent teachers and highly successful graduates is also a key factor. The Stuttgart economic region offers ideal conditions with numerous corporate collaborations such as Mercedes, Festo, BSH, Fiat, and Airbus. Partnerships with renowned universities in Paris, Helsinki, Stockholm, and Milan enable students to have valuable study abroad experiences. The study of Industrial Design at ABK Stuttgart takes place within the environment of a variety of other artistic and design-oriented degree programs. This uniqueness distinguishes the study at ABK significantly from design studies at other universities. Teaching is conducted in small, excellently supervised groups, with workshops and laboratories being of central importance for artistic training. After an interdisciplinary foundation year with students from the Architecture program, the focus shifts to contemporary design, imparting comprehensive technical and practical knowledge, and developing reflective skills. Students work on their own designs and projects in modernly equipped workshops and laboratories, critically engaging with their societal role. Theoretical and practical project work go hand in hand.
