If you are currently interested in studying for an M.Ed. in Protestant Religion, please contact the study office of the Department of Social and Historical Sciences for individual advice. The study of Protestant Religion for teaching at vocational schools at TU Darmstadt consists of two interconnected degree programs: first the Bachelor of Education (6 semesters; "subject area" = vocational subject), and then the Master of Education (4 semesters; "subject" = general education subject). Subject didactics, pedagogical foundations, and practical training in the vocational school system complement the subject-specific content of the teaching subjects. Only the completion of the Bachelor of Education and Master of Education is equivalent to the First State Examination in Hesse and thus a mandatory prerequisite for admission to the preparatory service (referendariat) or the teaching profession. Subject didactics, pedagogical foundations, and practical training in the vocational school system complement the subject-specific content of the teaching subjects. The focus is on modules for Protestant Religion, subject didactics, and the elective area of the vocational specialization. Educational science components are also included.
