The Bachelor's program "Textile Engineering" is a foundational engineering program that imparts engineering and textile technology expertise along the entire textile production chain through application-oriented teaching. The textile engineers' expertise includes technical contexts, basic functions, and the structure of machinery and plants for production, as well as chemical fundamentals. The challenges of the globalized textile industry are increasing. A lot of knowledge about the product development of technical textiles, such as carbon fibers for innovative lightweight construction in aerospace or the automotive industry, is required. The textile and clothing industry needs a new perspective and new solution-oriented approaches for sustainable production, as more and more highly complex products are demanded. All textile manufacturing stages are taught: from fiber to functional textile, as well as the development of innovative materials for high-quality products. The range of elective modules allows for great flexibility for personal and professional competence goals. The practical study semester is completed in a company in the clothing and textile industry.
