Anglophone Literatures, Cultures and Media is focused on literature, cultural, and media studies and is taught entirely in English. The master's program explores the three main areas of "Literature and Media Culture," "Literature and Cultural History," and "Transcultural Anglophone Studies," examining the media dimensions of literature and literature studies as well as the interaction of English-language literature with other cultural media. This includes literary text production within cultural contexts and historical, political, philosophical, and artistic developments in the Anglophone world, while taking into account the transcultural dimensions of English-language literatures and cultures, both past and present. In line with the tradition of Frankfurt's English studies, particular emphasis is placed on the study of literature in historical contexts, cultural communication, cultural memory, intermediality, key concepts in media studies, and central themes in Anglophone literatures and cultures. The master's program Anglophone Literatures, Cultures and Media is based on the concept of learning through research and teaching through research, enabling you to independently engage with diverse challenges and professional fields while critically reflecting on cultural contexts. You will receive a theoretically grounded education aligned with current research, allowing you to participate in research-oriented projects and develop your own contributions to the field. This program prepares you for a doctorate and an academic career, while also equipping you for demanding professional roles in areas such as publishing, media, and public relations.
